F/W 2014 Shopping Challenge

Good Morning Lovelies!

When I  recently changed out my summer clothes to my fall/winter clothes I tossed out many old and worn out pieces of clothing.  I have a habit of wearing things until the DIE if I like them enough.  I’ll patch, wear sweaters and accessories to hide permanent stains, wear my sleeves rolled to hide a hole.  You name it, I’ll do it, just so I can continue wearing something that I like the fit of.  This strategy is fine until the moment that so many of my essential items DIED at the same time. So, the fact is, I’m going to have to actually replace a lot of  items at once.  This, my friends, is something that intimidates me.

Here’s the deal….I like shopping.  I love putting together outfits on my Polyvore page.  I think for the most part people would say I have relatively good style.  But what I don’t know how to do with any sort of ease is put an outfit together.  I think one my problems is that I have lots of clothes, but not many pieces that can be paired up.  I want to get to a point the separates in my closet have at least two other items that  they can be paired with. So, I started by going through what I do have. I downloaded at app for that…..called Stylebook.  You take pictures of your clothes and you can then file them in your closet.  You can put outfits together using your clothes just like in Polyvore.  It’s pretty cool.  Here is a what it looks like:

Kind of awesome, huh?  I haven’t photographed all my clothes yet, but enough of them that I’ve been able to come up with a list of things I definitely need. But I get pretty overwhelmed when I’m shopping for items I actually need to buy. I could whittle away hours whimsically meandering in stores looking at lots of lovely things that are out of my budget that I don’t need. It’s when I have to purchase something that I struggle. I second guess and often wait in line and end up changing my mind before I get to the cash. But if I know anything about myself, it’s that I do better when I make something a challenge.  One with rules and a deadline.  So I introduce you to…..

I’ve been saving my pennies and now it’s time to get moving!  There are a lot of items on that list which makes a challenge to stay within budget but I think I can do it. I will keep you updated as to my progress along the way! And you can help me out too: if you see any of these items in your shopping travels that are on sale, let me know! Challenge starts NOW.

Have a lovely weekend.

  1. Joe Fresh has a really nice Pencil skirt for just $29 – I bought one and I don’t usually like skirts on myself 🙂 https://www.joefresh.com/Categories/Women/Bottoms/Ponte-Pencil-Skirt/p/WF13SK2814_600

The Aldo outlet on Yonge just north of Dundas has a bunch of flats and last season’s boots on sale. GO NOW!

  3. I share some of your angst – this sounds exactly like the kind of wardrobe makeover I need. Can’t wait to see how this goes – good luck!
